Teaching & Outreach

Welcome! Here you can explore my outreach and teaching projects, including workshops, courses, and educational resources.

Teaching Experience

As a PhD student, I was a teaching assistant for Civil and Environmental Engineering Decision Making: see the Syllabus. I've also filled in for a number of lectures at UW - Madison in Decision Making on topics of linear optimization, and the CEE course Hydroclimatology.

The exercise is designed to take 2-3 class periods. Students mix their own samples using food coloring or take grab samples. Then use their phones to load pictures into Google Colab, where simple machine learning models are built to relate reflectance to the concentration of "chlorophyll" in the sample. All the materials for the lesson, and the coding notebook can be found here: Lesson details.
